Brain Compatible Teaching and Learning
Building on the pioneering work in theories of accelerated learning by Lozanov and Suggestopedia, this course will introduce teachers to the art of full spectrum learning and teaching through which students acquire new information more rapidly and with less stress. Participants will receive instruction and practice in creating a carefully orchestrated, highly positive learning environment aimed at making learning in every subject area more rapid, more effective, and more enjoyable.

Building a Literate Classroom
This course is designed for professional teachers to explore different ways of assessing the literacy experiences of their students. Various assessment tools will be presented, applied and evaluated and sample lessons will be developed so that each teacher returns to the classroom immediately using innovative strategies gained from the free exchange of the class's experience and expertise.

Cooperative Learning Structures and Strategies in the Content Areas
(EDUC 7004)
Comprehensive course in cooperative learning designed to provide an in-depth look at a variety of instructional practices and strategies appropriate for effective teaching and learning in the inclusionary and heterogeneous classroom. Learning objectives are pertinenet for all disciplines.

Creating a Thinking Classroom
This course approaches critical thinking through a holistic model that stresses creative and analytic strategies. Participants consider cognitive development issues informing the design of instructional materials, methods that promote higher order thinking and assessment. Practical strategies for immediate applications are a priority.

Creating Connections: Curriculum, Technology and Learning
This course will bring together online resources, curriculum frameworks and updated methodologies complimenting internet resources with effective templates for seamlessly organizing and presenting learning activities that access the internet. Work achieved and projects developed in this course will be in the area of your curriculum. This course will provide evaluation tools for web sites and resources, a review or update of advanced searching strategies, and enable participants to build an actual WebQuest for their grade and content focus and to build a rubric for evaluating their WebQuest activities.
